Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive education for students by working in collaboration with families and the community. Our music program aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to reach their full potential as socially responsible, lifelong learners in a diverse and ever-changing society.

Alec Ockaskis
Band Director
As the dedicated Director of Bands at South Lyon High School and Centennial Middle School, I am privileged to shape young minds and inspire creativity through the power of music. Deeply passionate about student empowerment, I strive every day to help my students find their unique voice and inspire them to actively contribute to making the world a better place.
​My educational background is rooted in the University of Michigan, where I graduated in 2020 with degrees in Percussion Performance and Music Education. This foundation has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality music education to my students.
​I have been proudly associated with South Lyon Community Schools since 2021, embracing the opportunity to become an integral part of this vibrant community. One of my greatest joys is offering music back to the community, echoing the importance it held in my own upbringing.
My journey in music education is continually inspiring, and I look forward to fostering a love for music in many more students in the years to come.
