Volunteering
Food Committee
The food committee of the high school band program is responsible for providing meals and snacks to the band members during various events and activities. They help prepare dinner for the band during events such as Saturdays, football games, and other special occasions. The committee ensures that the band members have access to snacks and lunches during band camp and provides lunch on competition Saturdays. Their role is crucial in ensuring that the band members are well-nourished and energized to perform at their best.
Uniform Committee
The Uniform Committee for the band program plays a crucial role in ensuring the band's visual representation is up to standard. They are responsible for assisting students with proper uniform fittings to ensure each member looks their best for every performance. This involves helping students put on their uniforms before events and assisting with uniform removal after events. Additionally, the committee coordinates the cleaning of uniforms, ensuring they are always neat and presentable. Their diligent work serves to uphold the band's professional image and promotes unity among its members.
Pit Crew
The pit crew is a crucial support system for the marching band program. Their primary responsibilities involve assisting the band on the field during their performances at various events like football games and competitions. This includes setting up and taking down props and equipment that are integral to the band's performances. They also maintain all rolling band equipment, carts, and instruments used by the members, primarily focusing on the marching band pit and winter drum line front.
Transportation
Transportation plays a crucial role in ensuring that our band members are able to showcase their skills and talents at various events. Our band program frequently participates in competitions and performances that are held outside of our school campus. To make these off-site events possible, we rely on the support of dedicated parents and students to help with the logistics of transporting our equipment and instruments.
One of the main responsibilities associated with transportation is loading and unloading trailers. This involves carefully packing and organizing the band equipment, such as instruments, music stands, props, and uniforms, onto designated trailers. It requires attention to detail and teamwork to ensure that everything is securely stowed and protected during transportation.
Once at the competition or performance venue, the trailers need to be unloaded promptly. This task involves efficiently removing all the equipment and instruments from the trailers and setting them up for the band members to use. It is essential to handle the equipment with care to avoid any damage or loss.
After the event, the equipment must be loaded back onto the trailers for transport back to our school campus. This requires a similar level of organization and attention to detail as the initial loading process. Once we return to the school, the trailers must be unloaded again, and the equipment properly stored until the next event.
Props Committee
The Props Committee is a group of enthusiastic and creative individuals who work collaboratively to design, construct, and repair props that enhance our marching band performances. As a member of the Props Committee, you will have the opportunity to contribute your skills and ideas to bring our shows to life.
Throughout the year, the Props Committee works closely with the band director and the marching band staff to develop a visual concept for each performance. This concept guides the design and construction of props that align with the theme and mood of the show. Using various materials and techniques, you will have the chance to unleash your artistic talents and create eye-catching and innovative props that enhance the overall visual experience for our audience.
In addition to creating new props, the Props Committee also takes on the responsibility of repairing and maintaining existing props. As the marching band season progresses, wear and tear may occur, and it is essential to ensure that all props are in excellent condition for each performance. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship will help keep our props in top shape, allowing the marching band to continue delivering exceptional performances.
End of School Year Banquet
As part of our commitment to honoring our seniors and creating a memorable event for everyone involved, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help coordinate various aspects of the banquet. This includes organizing senior gifts, selecting and arranging decorations, planning a potluck meal, and sending out invitations.
Coordinating senior gifts will involve gathering ideas, selecting a meaningful gift, and ensuring that it is presented to each senior in a special way. Our goal is to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work throughout their time in the band program.
Decorations play a vital role in setting the atmosphere for our banquet. We are looking for creative minds to help us transform the venue into a festive and memorable space for our celebration. This includes selecting a theme, sourcing decorations, and arranging them to create an inviting ambiance.
In order to make our banquet a truly special event, we are planning a delicious potluck meal. We are seeking volunteers to assist in organizing the potluck, coordinating dishes, and ensuring that we have a variety of options to accommodate everyone's preferences and dietary needs.
Lastly, we need help with sending out invitations to ensure that all band members and their families are aware of the banquet and have the opportunity to attend. This will involve creating invitation lists, designing and distributing the invitations, and keeping track of RSVPs.
